The state’s public health department reported 3,750 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 Sunday, along with 67 new deaths.

The latest figures bring the total number of cases in Massachusetts to 475,925, while the death toll due to the disease grew to 13,844.

The health department reported that 91,507 people were estimated to have active cases of the potentially deadly virus. There were 1,946 confirmed coronavirus patients in the hospital.

As of Sunday, 101,327 more molecular tests had been conducted for coronavirus, the state reported. The total number of tests administered climbed to nearly 13 million. The state said 3,141 new antigen tests have been completed, bringing that total to 453,187.

The state also reported that the seven-day average rate of positive tests, which is calculated from the total number of tests administered, was at 4.85 percent. The lowest observed figure for that metric — a number watched closely by state officials — is 0.8 percent.

The state said the rate would be 6.4 percent if the effect of college testing programs — in which asymptomatic people can be tested repeatedly in an effort to rapidly identify new cases — is factored out.
