EMass baseball: Wellesley’s Kyle McCausland headlines Players of the Week

Brendan Holland, North Andover — The UMass Lowell-bound lefthander threw a four-hit shutout with 12 strikeouts to lead the top-ranked Knights over Central Catholic for the second time in three days in Saturday’s 6-0 Merrimack Valley Conference win.

Peter Martin, St. John’s Prep — The senior from Manchester delivered a no-hitter, the Eagles’ first since 2015, in Tuesday’s 4-0 nonleague win over St. Paul, striking out 10 batters in the 100-pitch effort.

Kyle McCausland, Wellesley — The senior righthander continued his dominant season for the Raiders (9-1), tossing five scoreless innings with eight strikeouts in Monday’s 8-3 Bay State Conference win over Newton North. The Middlebury College commit also added six hits, four doubles, and drove in seven runs across wins over Needham, Framingham, and North.

Sean Moynihan, Masconomet — Pacing the North Shore with 19 RBIs through nine games, the senior drove in three runs and threw 6⅔ strong innings to earn the win in Tuesday’s 5-2 nonleague victory over St. Mary’s.

Sam Palmer, Medfield — In Tri-Valley League wins over Bellingham and Norton, the senior outfielder went 7 for 8 with a pair of doubles, three runs, and two RBIs for the red-hot Warriors (9-1).

Aidan Vining, Woburn — After striking out 13 batters in six innings in his last start against Lexington, the senior lefthander followed up Tuesday with a two-hit shutout, fanning 15 batters in a 6-0 Middlesex League win over Belmont.
