A 41-year-old woman was fatally struck by a car Thursday evening in Salem, police said.
She was not immediately identified. The woman was hit on Highland Avenue, near Clark Street, police tweeted shortly after 9 p.m.
Highland Avenue, which is also Route 107, is a busy commercial and residential roadway.
Two pedestrians ran across the roadway around 7:13 p.m., and the woman was hit by a 2022 Honda Accord, State Police said Friday.
The driver stayed at the scene and called 911, Salem police said in a tweet Friday.
She was pronounced dead at Salem Hospital, State Police said.
The crash is under investigation.
