Dorchester man, 53, identified as person killed after being hit by van on Gallivan Boulevard

A 53-year-old man was identified Monday as the person who suffered fatal injuries when he was struck by a van while crossing a main intersection in Dorchester Sunday night State Police said.

Torrance Hodges, a Dorchester resident, was struck around 9:35 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Dorchester Avenue and Gallivan Boulevard, State Police spokesman David Procopio wrote in a statement.

According to Procopio, a 52-year-old man operating a 2006 Chevrolet Express van was heading south on Gallivan Boulevard, had the green light and had traveled through the intersection with Dorchester Avenue.

“The van then struck a pedestrian, Torrance Hodges, 53, of Dorchester, who was crossing Gallivan Boulevard,’' Procopio wrote.
