A 42-year-old Milton man died after a “fatal incident” in the parking lot of the Kowloon restaurant in Saugus on Saturday night that was apparently accidental, according to the Essex district attorney’s office.

Patrick Kenney Jr. was found with a knife wound after 9 p.m. and died a short time later at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, District Attorney Paul F. Tucker’s office said in a statement Sunday.

“This incident appears to be accidental and no additional parties are believed to be involved,” the statement said. The death is under investigation, officials said.

In a statement, Kenney’s family called his death “a horrible tragedy” and asked for privacy.

“Our family is mourning the loss of Patrick, focused on his wife Lauren and two young children, and trying to make sense of this horrific tragedy. Patrick was a loving father and husband, brother, son and loyal friend to many.”

An employee at Kowloon said no one was available to comment on the tragedy. The Wong family, which owns Kowloon, issued a statement to WCVB-TV.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim’s family. Nothing else matters at this time. We ask that people don’t jump to conclusions until an investigation is completed,” the family said, according to the news station.

The death comes less than two weeks after a Thanksgiving Eve brawl at the restaurant on Route 1. Four people have been charged.
