Patriots 2024 NFL Draft odds: They move up to the second overall pick after Week 13 loss

With help from a five-game losing streak, the Patriots continue to rise in the projected 2024 NFL Draft order.Matthew J. Lee/Globe Staff

If there’s one thing the Patriots are doing well, it’s improving their draft slot.

They have lost five straight games following Sunday’s ugly, 6-0 defeat against the Chargers. At 2-10, they’re now tied with the Jets for the longest losing streak in the NFL, and that skid has helped them rise up to the projected second overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

The Bears, who own the Panthers’ first-round pick, hold the No. 1 pick by virtue of Carolina’s 21-18 loss to the Buccaneers. But the Cardinals went on the road and upset the Steelers, improving their record to 3-10 and moving them a half-game behind the Patriots.

The Commanders dropped to 4-9 and sit fourth in the projected order after a blowout loss to the Dolphins.

Here’s a look at the current draft order.

  1. Chicago Bears (via 1-11 Carolina Panthers)
  2. New England Patriots (2-10)
  3. Arizona Cardinals (3-10)
  4. Washington Commanders (4-9)
  5. Chicago Bears (4-8)
  6. New York Giants (4-8)
  7. New York Jets (4-8)
  8. Tennessee Titans (4-8)
  9. New Orleans Saints (5-7)
  10. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (5-7)

Here is the remainder of the Patriots’ schedule:

  • Dec. 7: at Steelers (7-5)
  • Dec. 17: vs. Chiefs (8-4)
  • Dec. 24: at Broncos (6-6)
  • Dec. 31: at Bills (6-6)
  • Jan. 7: vs. Jets (4-8)
