In the waning days of a tumultuous presidential campaign, polls in the handful of states that will likely decide whether former president Donald Trump or Vice President Kamala Harris win the presidential election show a neck-and-neck race.
Since Harris replaced President Biden at the top of the ticket for the Democratic Party, she has gained ground on Trump’s lead over Biden, effectively resetting the contest. But in the campaign’s final days, with early voting underway in most states and millions of ballots already cast, the race is tightening further.
In seven states — Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin — the candidates are separated by no more than two percentage points, according to the most recent polls from The New York Times and FiveThirtyEight.
