George Patisteas

George Patisteas is a print designer for the Monday through Friday Business section, Sunday Books, and a number of Sunday Sports notebook graphics. Since joining the Globe in January 1994 as the Night Desk Photo Editor, he has served as Projects Editor in charge of copy editing and production for special projects, including Spotlight, and was one of the newsroom team members tasked with choosing, customizing, training, and rolling out a new computer production system in each department of the newsroom, an assignment that lasted nearly four years, from 2001-2005.

Subsequently, he joined the Design Department, working the last 18 years designing pages in nearly every department, ranging from Page One, the twice-weekly local news sections, and the annual Best Places to Work magazine.

Before joining the Globe, George was the Graphics and Photo Editor at The Standard-Times in New Bedford, Mass., the paper he once delivered. Previous to that he worked as the Local Editor and later Graphics Editor at the Transcript-Telegram in Holyoke, Mass. and as a reporter/photographer at The Foxboro Reporter.

A graduate of Northeastern University, he has also taught photo editing at Boston University as an adjunct professor.

He is a winner of multiple Society of News Design awards of excellence for design and art direction. He is married with three sons.
