PhRMA, the trade association that represents the drug industry said the association is working with the federal government to accelerate the development of non-opioid pain medications as well as medications to treat addiction.

As I read this article, the pain caused by a kidney stone is kicking me in my back. When I was released from Emergency Room five days ago, I was given a prescription for oxycodine for 15 tablets. I was told in the emergency room that my laser procedure would occur within the next 14 days. I can deal with that until I was told by the surgeon , it would be 28 days before the procedure could be done. The surgeons office also thought I was taking two pills a day. At that rate, I would have taken 56 additive pills before the stone was removed. If I become addicted do I sue the pharmaceutical company, the hospital or the Doctor?
In my experience, through different procedures all requiring oxycodone, I was always given enough and more if required. I am not addicted to anything and am grateful for the blessed pain relief. i think if pain is present you will not become addicted. The brits used to use heroin for pain relief finding if the pain was present it would not cause addiction. i believe some may be addiction prone but most use the drugs for their intended purpose. To be taking them for no reason may be the problem that starts addiction.
