NIGHT WATCH: All You Can Eat Buffet at Zuzu

Sunday, Oct. 21, 10 p.m., Zuzu, 474 Massachusetts Ave., Cambridge. 21+ Free. 617-864-3278, ext. 237, .

The deal: DJ Paul Foley wants to find out what grabs a Sunday night crowd. His method: Play songs people know and like. With his new night, “All You Can Eat Buffet,” at Zuzu the second and third Sunday of every month, Foley intends to keep it broad. “Sometimes popular songs are pretty damn good, and that’s why they’re popular,” he says. “I’m not trying to impress anyone with my grand knowledge of dance music.” He’s mined his record collection for the best dance-pop songs, from the ’60s on. “Even if you don’t know all the words to the songs, you’ve probably heard it on the radio, or heard your parents play it on the radio,” he says.

The crowd: Anyone who’s drawn into Zuzu by the tunes. “There’s no particular built-in crowd for a Sunday night, so you just try to do different things and see what’ll bring people out,” Foley says.

The drink: “Just grab a Miller High Life,” says Foley. “Keep it simple.”

Three songs you’ll hear:Signed, Sealed, Delivered I’m Yours” by Stevie Wonder; “Hot Stuff” by Donna Summer; “[Expletive] You” by Cee Lo Green.

The tip: “Keep it casual. There’s no need to dress up,” says Foley. “If you just want to extend your weekend by a few extra hours, come out for one last hurrah.”
