Critic’s Corner: What’s on TV Saturday

20/20 General Hospital 9 p.m., Channel 5

I know you never watched “General Hospital” because you would never watch a soap opera. But Saturday night, ABC is celebrating 50 years of the show, which is still on the air despite all the soap cancellations in recent years. The special will include interviews with Tony Geary, Genie Francis, Maurice Benard, Jack Wagner, Rick Springfield, and Frank Valentini, and it will look back at some of the show’s landmarks. Ice Princess forever! Pictured: Geary and Francis.

Mad Men Sunday at 9 p.m., AMC

This is the start of the second-to-last season of “Mad Men.” I wonder if AMC will break the final, seventh season in half next year, as it did with “Breaking Bad,” to stretch out the ad potential of the show. Meantime, Sunday’s two-part premiere is beautifully done, with some great work by Jon Hamm (pictured), as usual, as well as John Slattery. Surprise new cast member: Linda Cardellini. What?!
