How to see ‘Fare Thee Well’ in Boston

Ryan Huddle/ Globe Staff

Bostonians who weren’t lucky enough to snag tickets for one of the three Grateful Dead concerts in Chicago July 3-5, take heart: You don’t have to wait until the newly announced “Fare Thee Well” audio/video box set arrives in November. You’ve got several options for viewing the band's farewell shows, ranging from your smartphone to a local drive-in movie theater.

Webcast: Purchase access to one farewell show or subscribe to all of them, both streaming live and archived for 30 days for on-demand viewing. www.dead50.net

YouTube: If you’re connected to the Internet, you can pay to watch “Fare Thee Well” live from anywhere you like, on any device that supports YouTube.

Movie theaters: Fathom Events will beam the “Fare Thee Well” shows live to movie theaters; oddly, our closest option is Lowell Showcase Cinemas (www.fathomevents.com/event/fare-thee-well). You can also catch the July 5 grand finale at the Mendon Twin Drive-In (www.aceticket.com/event/1614076).

Nightclub: In our view, the best option of all: View one or all of the Dead farewell shows among friends and fellow Deadheads at the Sinclair in Cambridge, which promises high-definition viewing, concert-quality sound — and, of course, a fully-stocked bar.
