The Rose Art Museum at Brandeis University has named Kim Conaty as its new curator, where she will be responsible for exhibitions, research, and assessing possible acquisitions. Conaty, who most recently served as an assistant curator of drawings and prints at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, will formally assume her new position in December.

“I am delighted to welcome Kim as a creative partner during an historic period of ambitious growth for the Rose,” said director Christopher Bedford in a prepared statement. Bedford added that Conaty, a former Fulbright scholar, would help the museum “create innovative exhibitions and programs that support and expand the museum’s roles as an educational resource for the University, a center for community engagement, and a cultural hub for the city of Boston.”

While working at MoMA, Conaty organized “Abstract Generation: Now in Print,” a 2013 exhibition that featured works by Cory Arcangel, Tauba Auerbach, and Philippe Decrauzat, among others. She also collaborated on several exhibitions and worked to acquire contemporary artworks by the likes of Janice Kerbel, Daniel Joseph Martinez, and an archive of performance works by William Pope.L.

“I am thrilled to join the Rose Art Museum,” said Conaty in a statement. “My own scholarship and interests strongly relate to the Rose’s collection and curatorial program.”

Conaty, who is currently working on a PhD from New York University’s Institute of Fine Arts, previously worked as the biennial coordinator for the 2008 Whitney Biennial and was a curatorial fellow at NYU’s Grey Art Gallery. More locally, she was a curatorial intern at the Busch-Reisinger Museum at Harvard Art Museums and the Clark Art Institute, which named her a summer fellow in 2014.

“I look forward to working with the Rose staff to continue building upon the museum’s outstanding reputation through groundbreaking exhibitions, key acquisitions, and collaborations within the university,” Conaty said.
