“I did hear that. On the Internet.” That was John Krasinski’s answer to Ellen DeGeneres, when she asked him about the potential revival of “The Office” on Monday’s episode of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”
“Guess who didn’t get a call,” he added. “Me.”
But when DeGeneres asked him if he’d do it, assuming he would get a call, he was quite positive: “Oh my God, are you kidding? I’d love to get that gang back together.”
In case you didn’t know, NBC has reportedly been talking about bringing back “The Office” since the “Will & Grace” revival premiered last fall. Steve Carell, who’d left the series before it left the air in 2013 after nine seasons, would not return; NBC is looking for another star to take over. According to TVLine, the revival would mix returning cast members from the series with some new ones.

Talking about not getting a call from NBC, and referring to his character, Jim Halpert, Krasinski said to DeGeneres, “What does that say? NBC is like, ‘You know who we didn’t like? Jim.’”
“They wouldn’t do it without you!” she responded. Indeed, it’s hard to imagine a return to “The Office” without Jim and Pam, the couple at the center of the series. Not that Krasinski, who grew up in Newton, isn’t busy. He’s starring — with his wife, Emily Blunt — in the forthcoming film “A Quiet Place” and the fall Amazon series “Jack Ryan.”
