We interrupt this episode of “The 2000s” — CNN’s impossibly addictive follow-up to “The Nineties,” which followed up “The Eighties,” which followed up “The Seventies,” which followed up “The Sixties,” all from Tom Hanks’s production company — for an announcement.
A lot of people have been eager to see the new documentary about Ruth Bader Ginsburg, called “RBG,” since its release a few months ago. But getting to the theater can be such a challenge, sayeth the TV critic. So relax: CNN, a producer of the film, has announced that it will be running “RBG” on Sept. 3 at 9 p.m., then again at midnight, then again on Sept. 9 at 8 p.m. Directed by Betsy West and Julie Cohen, “RBG” looks at the personal and professional lives of the Supreme Court justice, now in her 25th year in that job.

As part of its promotion for the documentary, which has earned an impressive $14 million at the box office, CNN is launching a companion podcast next week called “Beyond Notorious,” which will be devoted to Ginsburg’s life, with guests including Ginsburg’s granddaughter, Clara Spera, and the son of the late Justice Antonin Scalia, Eugene Scalia. CNN’s Poppy Harlow and Jeffrey Toobin will host.
Here’s the most important bit: CNN will be presenting the film with limited commercial interruptions. Seriously, watching those low-tech cable news ads is a special circle of hell.
