On Thursday night, Hasan Minhaj made his last appearance on “The Daily Show.”

His final report focused on MoviePass troubles, and his suggestion that MoviePass merge with Obamacare: “Just picture it: You’re in the movie theater, you’re watching, let’s just say ‘The Spy Who Dumped Me’ starring Hasan Minhaj. You’re getting your popcorn on. You’re getting your soda on. And now, thanks to MoviePass, you’re also getting a colonoscopy. You’re welcome, Obama!”

Minhaj, who gave the 2017 White House Correspondents Dinner speech, joined “The Daily Show” in 2014, as one of the last Jon Stewart hires. Now, he’s following fellow “Daily Show” alums Stephen Colbert, John Oliver, and Samantha Bee into the world of talk shows. He’ll host the weekly “Patriot Act With Hasan Minhaj” on Netflix, the outlet that released his stand-up special “Hasan Minhaj: Homecoming King.” The show will begin on Oct. 28 – yup, that’s just in time for the midterm elections.

Netflix, which ordered 32 episodes of “Patriot Act,” describes the show thusly: “Minhaj’s weekly comedy show will explore the modern cultural and political landscape with depth and sincerity. Each week, Minhaj will bring his unique comedic voice and storytelling skill to investigate the larger trends shaping our fragmented world.”

In the meantime, Minhaj will be doing a stand-up tour called “Before the Storm,” which will bring him to Boston’s Wilbur Theatre for two shows on Sept. 7.
