Look for John Green’s ‘Looking for Alaska’ on Hulu

After a few false starts as a movie, John Green’s first novel, 2005’s “Looking for Alaska,” is coming to Hulu as an 8-episode limited series. Two of Green’s later novels, “The Fault in Our Stars” and “Paper Towns,” have already been made into movies.

The casting of the boarding school drama so far includes two of my TV favorites. Timothy Simons, who plays Jonah on “Veep,” will play the humorless Mr. Starnes, also known as “The Eagle.” And Ron Cephas Jones, Randall’s father on “This Is Us,” will play Dr. Hyde (no kidding), an old theology teacher with only one lung.

Also aboard: Charlie Plummer as Miles “Pudge” Halter, the main character. He is attracted to his wilder fellow student, Alaska, who’ll be played by Kristine Froseth. Josh Schwartz, creator of “The O.C.,” “Chuck,” and “Gossip Girl,” is the showrunner and one of the executive producers along with Green.
