A house in Iran made out of long plastic bags filled with sand.

An inflatable tea house, a home made of sand, and a townhouse built inside a water tower are a few of my favorites from “H.O.U.S.E.: Homes That are Outrageous, Unbelievable, Spectacular and Extraordinary” (Harper Design) written and illustrated by Polish graphic designers Aleksandra Mizielinska and Daniel Mizielinski (and translated by Elzbieta Wojcik-Leese). This gorgeous fun book identifies the architect and location of each of the 35 houses it showcases (most of which are in Europe) and exhorts readers to exercise their creativity: “With a little imagination and a willingness to step outside the box, we can design a world where anything is possible!”
