Illustrated ‘Amazing Animal Facts’ books is aptly named

“The Illustrated Compendium of Amazing Animal Facts" by Maja Safstrom.

Sea horses hold each other’s tails when they travel together. Penguins can’t fly but they can jump almost 6½ feet out of the water. Tigers have the same pattern on their skin as they do on their fur. Swedish architect and illustrator Maja Säfström knows how to pick fun facts. And there’s something delightful about her black-and-white drawings of animals. (Perhaps that’s why she has 100,000 followers on Instagram.) Her first book, “The Illustrated Compendium of Amazing Animal Facts” (Ten Speed), is a good one to keep on hand when you need a lift and/or a momentary distraction. JAN GARDNER
