The English-Irish fivesome, often seen surrounded by throngs of adoring tweens across the world, take center stage in their first video concert DVD. The 73-minute film follows the pop sensations on their “Up All Night” tour and features live concert footage and behind-the-scenes extras.
After finishing third in season seven of British television singing competition “The X Factor” and a rapid rise to global stardom, One Direction was signed to Simon Cowell’s Syco Records and, soon thereafter, Columbia Records in America. Since its release in May, “Up All Night: The Live Tour” has topped the charts in 25 countries, with sales exceeding 1 million copies worldwide.
The film offers an intimate and revealing peek at the touring life of the troupe (above, from left): Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik, and Liam Payne Also included on the disc are music videos for “What Makes You Beautiful,” “Gotta Be You,” and “One Thing.” Fans will appreciate the prolonged, inside look into the young stars’ lives — and at the very least, this DVD serves as 73 minutes of appreciation for perfectly messy boy-band hair.
