Lovewhip’s Bootypocalypse at Midway Cafe

Friday, 9 p.m., Midway Cafe, 3496 Washington St., Jamaica Plain. 21+. Cover: $10. 617-524-9038,

The deal:  Is there a better way to go out than to do so while shaking it? The folks at Bootypocalypse think not. “The Mayan prophecy and all that says that the world is ending,” says Erin Harpe, lead singer and guitarist for Lovewhip. “So we decided to have an end-of-the-world-just-in-case party.”

The entertainment:  Enjoy tunes courtesy of bands the Hornitz and Lovewhip, musical comedy by emcee Vice V’ersatile, a burlesque performance by Miss Madison West, and circus tricks by Ginger B. Goode.

What you’ll hear:  Lovewhip’s sound is “electro dance rock, really fun and danceable,” and the Hornitz are “two guys that put on a show that sounds like many more than two people,” says Harpe. “It’s like a second-line horn band that backs up with electronics and really cool beats.” Lovewhip is planning to cover what Harpe calls “an end of the world song,” but is adamant on keeping the tune top secret, adding more mystery to the impending Bootypocalypse.

Who goes there:  “People who like burlesque, musical comedy, and dancing,” says Harpe.

What to wear:  Harpe suggests that partygoers aim for a look that’s “apocalyptic. Lots of wigs, lots of sunglasses; alien-wear.”
