Rando Radio at River Gods

Friday, 9 p.m. River Gods, 125 River St., Cambridge. 617-576-1881,

The deal: The general manager of River Gods, Caroline Enright,
describes Rando Radio as “a good, upbeat way to wind down your week,” adding, “nobody wants to be looking into their beers on a Friday night.” Resident DJs Brian Iskric and Marco Athie will spin a musical hodgepodge; you can expect to hear anything from indie rock to electronic to psych. The small yet baroquely decorated bar is, according to Enright, decidedly atypical for Boston: that is, less of a sporty pub and more of a haunt for indie and hipster types. Rando Radio occurs monthly to bimonthly, and the DJs try to vary the music they play considerably each time. The last “rando” queue consisted of a good number of jazz songs, in honor of Dave Brubeck’s recent passing.

The DJs: Brian Iskric and Marco Athie

The drink: With each season comes a special new drink. This winter, it’s cinnamon whiskey.

Three songs you might hear: “Rhiannon” by Fleetwood Mac; “Nocturne” by Wild Nothing; “Last Train to London” by ELO.

The tip: If you’re not interested in coming for dinner, arrive at 10, after the kitchen closes, and you’ll get cocktail service on the floor. But don’t come too late, because the bar has a 45-person cap.
