Together Warm-Up @ Rise

Friday, 1 a.m., 306 Stuart St., Boston. 18+. $10 members, $20 guests. 617-423-7473,,

The deal: Boston’s Together Festival just couldn’t wait until May to celebrate the city’s art and electronic music scene. Teaming up with Rise, the group will warm up attendees for the real deal (running at various venues from May 12-19) with a sneak peek featuring some of the city’s hottest electronic artists. This community-forward pre-party will give guests a chance to meet and mingle after hours, while getting a feel for the festival, according to creative director David Day. Geared toward younger people and college students, the event’s main goal is to “highlight the artists and musicians that make Boston what it is.”

The DJs: DJs Durkin and John Barera on the main floor, with Time Wharp and Fens in the lounge.

What you’ll hear: With four artists producing beats all over the electronic spectrum, Day says you can expect to get a taste of everything, from Durkin’s “dreamclub” beats to soulful mixes to multi-rhythmic post-hip-hop.

What to wear: Day says if you’re out on a Friday night, you probably have on something appropriate. “It’s pretty much come as you are,” he says.

The tip: “Bring an open mind and your dancing shoes,” Day says. “There is plenty of room to chill at Rise, so feel free. But upstairs is where the dancing happens, so be prepared to get down and get funky.”
