CRASH SAFELY

At: Oberon, Cambridge, Sept. 13, www.cluboberon.com; Davis Square Theatre, Somerville, Sept. 14, www.davissquaretheatre.com; Midway Cafe, Jamaica Plain, Sept. 20 and Sept. 21, www.midwaycafe.com. For full lineups and event information, visit www.facebook.com/crashsafely/events

The deal: The brainchild of Boston rock writer and videographer Amanda Nichols and Figgs/Duckbills drummer Pete Hayes — who were both diagnosed with MS in 2008 — Crash Safely is a series of concert events to benefit BikeMS and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Since launching in 2011, Crash Safely has grown from a modest two shows to four, held at three different venues over one week. Raffles and a silent auction will also be held.

The cause: Crash Safely not only aims to raise money for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society but also to raise awareness of MS.

The performers: Highlights include The Upper Crust (Friday at Oberon); veteran surf band Tsunami of Sound (Saturday at Davis Square Theatre); Lenny Lashley’s Gang of One (Sunday at the Midway Cafe); and Sidewalk Driver (Sept. 21 at the Midway); among others.

The tip: If you cannot make the events but would still like to help the cause there will be an online auction at www.crashsafely.org.
