JONATHAN WILSON In the crush of big releases last fall, Wilson’s second studio album, “Fanfare,” got lost in the shuffle. It’s worth discovering. This singer-songwriter based in California mines a certain strain of mellow gold, coloring his stark songs with broad strokes from country, folk, and Memphis soul. “Fanfare” burned with a quiet intensity, with cameos by Jackson Browne, Dawes’ Taylor Goldsmith, and Father John Misty, all of whom are kindred musical spirits. Feb. 11, 8 p.m. Tickets: $15. Brighton Music Hall. 800-745-3000,

DAWN LANDES The heartache laid out so beautifully on Landes’s new album, “Bluebird,” was actually foretold last year. Josh Ritter, her ex-husband and fellow singer-songwriter, addressed the demise of their marriage on “The Beast in Its Tracks.” Now we hear the other side of the story through Landes’s revelatory new work, which will be released on Feb. 18. The album dabbles in graceful folk and pop songs tinged with melancholy but also redemption. Feb. 12, 8:15 p.m. Tickets: $12. Johnny D’s, Somerville. 617-776-2004,

DR. JOHN One of the great spectacles of seeing Dr. John live is the disconnect between his entrance and his performance. I’ve seen it time and again: He saunters onstage as if he’s frail, an illusion he destroys once he’s behind his piano or on guitar. The unrivaled high priest of New Orleans funk and blues comes to town behind a 40-plus-year career that hit a high note on 2012’s “Locked Down.” Feb. 12, 7:30 p.m. Tickets: $30-$65. Wilbur Theatre. 800-745-3000,
