SubTropix at Good Life

At: Good Life, 28 Kingston St., Boston. Thursday, 9 p.m.-1 a.m. Free. 617-451-2622,

The deal: Held at Good Life monthly, SubTropix is a tropical bass party that drops beats from a variety of musical genres. “It’s everything from dancehall and cumbia to more modern electronic and Latin music,” said Ardie Petsas, who helps organize SubTropix each month and also entertains as resident DJ Fuzzy Fotch. The evening begins with a pre-party listening of “Vengo,” the upcoming album of Grammy-nominated French-Chilean artist Ana Tijoux.

The DJs: This SubTropix party will feature special guests K. Sabroso, a Brooklyn-based DJ who mixes Afro percussion and modern breakbeat, and Boston’s synth-soul duo Goldbloc, a collaboration of producer GoldenHaus and female vocalist Solei. Also on deck are resident DJs Fuzzy Fotch (Petsas) and Dudley.

Who goes there: Good Life often attracts professionals earlier in the evening, but Petsas said SubTropix events draw a predominantly younger, hipster crowd.

The tip: “Come ready to dance and have an open mind to hear a lot of different types of music,” said Petsas.
