Spike TV’s 10th Annual Video Game Awards 9 p.m., Spike

The audience for this telecast — America’s future drone operators, no doubt — will probably be too busy with their game controllers to watch. This year’s host is Samuel L. Jackson (above), and Linkin Park and Tenacious D will be performing. Among the competitors for game of the year: Assassin’s Creed III, Mass Effect 3, and The Walking Dead: The Game.

American Giving Awards Saturday at 8 p.m., Channel 7

Relax. There is another awards show on Saturday night. We wouldn’t want anyone to have to go for very long without watching people pat one another on the back on TV. That would be so sad. But wait, this show highlights charities, so maybe it will be less narcissistic than most awards fests. Joel McHale hosts, Glenn Close will take home the Leadership Award, Darius Rucker will perform, and presenters will include Jenna Elfman, Gary Sinese, and Anthony Anderson.

Last Man Standing 8 p.m., Channel 5

He brings home a dead duck for dinner. Self-metaphor.

Malibu Country 8:30 p.m., Channel 5

Duck a l’orange.

Duck Dynasty marathon 7 p.m.-4 a.m. A&E
