On Demand movie highlights

(Comcast Movie Collections: Just In) A strained, sentimental fable about a magic child who appears out of nowhere and teaches the saggy, baggy grown-ups the errors of their ways. CJ Adams is likable as the title character, but the movie’s really about the fears and neuroses of parents. Jennifer Garner and Joel Edgerton costar. (PG; runs through April 20)

Ty Burr

(Encore on Comcast) Bland but attractive and easy to take. This reprise of the TV show about the world’s favorite dolphin retains a ’60s feel, but Elijah Wood is a plus as the surly kid who benefits from befriending a dolphin. Paul Hogan is engaging as his beach-bum uncle — and the underwater photography is terrific. (PG; runs through April 19)

(Starz on Comcast) OK, the ubiquitous talking moose (voiced by Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas) are funny the first time. But with its hodgepodge of pseudo-Native American myth, warmed-over paeans to brotherhood, and artisto-pretentioso panoramas, this tale of a boy-turned-bear who must Learn Lessons is a bland, processed pudding. A pudding, by the way, with six Phil Collins songs. (G; runs through May 11)
