Critic’s corner: What’s on TV tonight

Chris Hollo/ABC

Nashville: The Whole Story 10 p.m., Channel 5

A more accurate subtitle would be “The Story So Far.” Tonight, ABC continues to try to bring new viewers into the fold with this recap episode, before new episodes return. I’m not sure this show is complicated enough to merit a full hour; the dramatic tropes are as easy to follow as those in a country song. But if it will get more people to watch, then I’m for it. Sweepstakers 10 p.m., OWN

Hey, a lot of people buy lottery tickets. And there’s a whole world of reality shows about people who are obsessed with something, anything. So I guess this isn’t too strange. This show follows people who are fanatical about all those sweepstakes promotions for cars, trips, and cash. There are thousands of these competitions every year, and some of those who enter them spend hours every week filling out entry forms and buying postage.
