20/20: Mad About Oscar With Katie 10 p.m., Channel 5

In preparation for this Sunday’s Academy Awards, the newsmagazine goes all Oscar. Katie Couric hosts this clip and interview fest that will cover “the most memorable and moving acceptance speeches of all time” — expect to see Sacheen Littlefeather and Sally Field — funny monologue bits — we’re guessing anything involving Clooney — and a look at red carpet fashions through the years. Helping Couric dive into Academy history are former winners Field, Marisa Tomei, Denzel Washington, Cuba Gooding Jr., and Whoopi Goldberg as well as past hosts like Goldberg and Billy Crystal, and 2013 nominees Washington, Field, Bradley Cooper, and Jennifer Lawrence.

Nova 9 p.m., Channel 2

This installment of the PBS science series examines rampage killers and the possibility that they are motivated not by a desire to kill but a desire to die and go out making headlines while doing so. The show will also examine what science reveals about brains at risk for violence.
