Critic’s corner: What’s on TV Friday

Vikings Sunday at 10 p.m., History

I’m completely caught up in this series, even while it has plenty of flaws. “Vikings” manages to transport the viewer back to the eighth century, and into a world of paganism and plundering and, it seems, free lovin’. It’s escapism, in a way, but there’s a lot lot lot of violence. I want to mention Jessalyn Gilsig, who plays the wife of the earl our hero, Ragnar (Travis Fimmel), is disobeying. She stands out in her scenes, and her role grows as the series progresses. She has a great face. Gilsig was memorable on “Nip/Tuck” and as Will’s ex-wife on “Glee.”

Tom Dick & Harriet Saturday at 9 p.m., Hallmark

That title is missing a comma, Hallmark, but whatever. The movie is about ageism, with Steven Weber as an advertising executive named Tom who gets canned because he’s too old and unhip. So he feeds his ad campaign ideas to a young con man named Dick (Andrew Francis) who is posing as a copywriter at the agency. The plan takes a twist, though, when Dick falls for Tom’s daughter. I know, you probably won’t watch it. But now you know. You’re welcome. Pictured (from left): Michelle Harrison, Francis, and Weber.
