Critic’s Corner: What’s on TV Saturday

Dana Edelson/NBC

Saturday Night Live 10 p.m., Channel 7

Cute! NBC is now repurposing the previous Saturday’s episode on Saturday nights in prime time. So here is last week’s Justin Timberlake episode, trimmed down to an hour. The ratings have been low for the prime-time re-airings — but then so are the ratings for just about everything else on NBC. Plus, the price of re-airing “SNL” is lower for NBC than paying to re-air a scripted show such as “Law & Order: SVU.”

Shameless Sunday at 9 p.m., Showtime

I have been a huge fan of this series, which is a frenetic look at a bunch of kids who are triumphing over a faulty social system. But one of the recent plot lines has been making me feel pretty ookie, in a skeeved-out sort of way. Kevin (Steve Howey) and Veronica (Shanola Hampton) want to have a child, but she can’t get pregnant, so he is trying to knock up her mother. The sex scenes, in which V takes part, have been really off-putting and not as funny as the writers think.
