Critic’s corner: What’s on TV tonight

Brownie Harris/NBC

Revolution 10 p.m., Channel 7

This series has been off the schedule four months. Rather than running a few sporadic new episodes with repeats throughout the winter, NBC decided to hold off completely and deliver 10 episodes
between now and May. Four months is a long break for a serialized drama on network TV, and “Revolution” — apocalypse, forest, rebels, militia, Katniss — is slow-paced and not especially addictive. Will viewers return? Pictured: Billy Burke as Miles Matheson.

I still don’t quite understand the career logic of music stars such as Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez, and Mariah Carey going on reality contests. I guess they are still attention-starved despite worldwide fame. But they do lose some mystique and credibility by sitting on these two-bit panels and delivering glib critiques. Anyhow, this show returns, but without two mainstays: CeeLo Green and Christina Aguilera. Maybe Shakira and Usher are replacing them because they just want to sit in those ultra super cool swivel chairs?
