Critic’s corner: What’s on TV tonight

Greg Gayne/CW

Oh Sit! 8 p.m., Channel 56

I am so glad this show is back. Nothing equals the excitement of watching to see which players will get shut out of a chair. When I was a boy, I was enthralled by musical chairs, never dreaming that as an adult I would be able to watch the game on TV. You see, dreams really do come true. They say we’re in the middle of a golden age of television, and “Oh Sit!” is further evidence of that claim. Jamie Kennedy and Jessi Cruickshank (pictured) host.

Defiance 9 p.m., Syfy

This new series — tethered to a new video game — is set in the near future, years after aliens have landed on Earth because their own star system has been destroyed. Tensions and battles between the humans and the aliens lasted for years, and now the survivors are trying to get along. The cast includes Grant Bowler, Julie Benz, Fionnula Flanagan, and Jaime Murray, the actress from “Hustle” who played Lila on season 2 of “Dexter.” Mia Kirshner, the dreaded Jenny on “The L Word,” is on board, too.
