Critic’s corner: What’s on TV Monday night

Trae Patton/NBC

The Winner Is 10 p.m., NBC

Because what the world needs is another singing competition. The last time we saw Nick Lachey he was on the stage at the TD Garden pleading “Give Me Just One Night (Una Noche)” with his recently reunited boy band 98 Degrees. Now the former (and possibly future) host of “The Sing Off” is taking on another hosting job on this mash-up game show-talent contest. The twist here is it’s not about a record deal or a career in the music business, it’s strictly about cash as the contestants compete for a million dollars. And, apparently, skill will not be the deciding factor, but which “singer” is able to win the crowd over and who is most willing to turn down monetary offers to go away.

King & Maxwell 10 p.m. TNT

Not to be confused with “Rizzoli & Isles” or “Franklin & Bash” (or “Tango & Cash”), this new cop show from the “we know drama” network is based on characters from a series of books by David Baldacci. Jon Tenney (“The Closer”) and Rebecca Romijn (“X-Men”) play Secret Service agents turned private eyes Sean King and Michelle Maxwell.
