On Demand movie highlights

TAKE THIS WALTZ ½

(Showtime on Comcast) Writer-director Sarah Polley (“Away From Her”) makes her bid to be taken for an auteur with this visually striking, narratively vague story of love, lust, and infidelity in Toronto. Some very good moments, but Michelle Williams’s ethereal uncertainty is in danger of turning into schtick and Seth Rogen is out of his depth. (R; runs through July 25)

FINDING NEMO ½

(Encore on Comcast) Not quite top-drawer Pixar, but still leagues ahead of other family fare. On Australia’s Great Barrier Reef, an overanxious single-dad clownfish (voiced by Albert Brooks) loses his son (Alexander Gould) to a dentist-office fish tank and must travel 1,500 miles to bring him home. The supporting cast constitutes an embarrassment of riches, and many of the sequences have a weirdly mesmerizing underwater beauty. (G; runs through July 25)

IRON MAN 2 ½

(Comcast Free Movies) Robert Downey Jr. returns as the billionaire military industrialist who keeps the world safe with his metal suit. This time he’s battling a Russian-accented Mickey Rourke and a cocky rival military contractor (Sam Rockwell). This movie is at its best when it’s breezy, playing up the idea of the CEO and the superhero as a vain rock star. But the heavier both the movie and the metal get, the duller they become. The talking and chemistry here are so good that the brawling feels mandated. (PG-13; runs through July 31)
