Critic’s corner: What’s on TV Wednesday night


Crown Chasers 10 p.m., TLC

TLC has given us an intimate view on the world of kiddie pageants with its timeless masterpiece “Toddlers & Tiaras.” Now the network is showing us how women between the ages of 30 and 52 fight for their own tiaras. “Crown Chasers” will focus on five tantrum-throwing, bickering, nipped and tucked women in the Denver area who have banished carbs from their lives.

The American Baking Competition 9 p.m., CBS


It’s the season finale, which means we will finally learn who will win $250,000 and be dubbed the best amateur baker in the country. Let me be blunt: I loved this show — not that I watched it, but it enabled me to make sad little marijuana jokes in this column for a few weeks. And that was cushy, for a while. So I’m hoping CBS will renew it.
