Critic’s Corner: What’s on TV Wednesday

National Geographic Channel

Diggers  9 p.m., National Geographic

If reality TV existed 45 years ago, this series would be about the troupe of activists and actors who offered free food and parties in the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood of San Francisco. Those 1960s Diggers were turning lead into gold. But this is about “hobbyist metal detectorists,” as NatGeo puts it, who go looking for historical relics. On Wednesday night, they travel to a spot in New Mexico passed over by Spanish explorers searching for El Dorado.

Tough Love: Co-Ed  10 p.m., VH1

Steve Ward talks like an infomercial salesman. But he’s selling
luuurrrve in the new edition of the dating expert’s boot camp series. This time, Coach Ward counsels single men and women together, all of them humorously clueless. In the preview clips, there is farting in the coed Jacuzzi.
