Critic’s Corner: What’s on TV Thursday

NBC News

Valerie’s Story: A Meredith Vieira Special 10 p.m., NBC

Nice title-bombing, Meredith Vieira. In this hour, she talks to Valerie Harper, who announced in March that she has a rare form of brain cancer and that she had only about three months to live. Still going strong six months later, and starring on the new season of “Dancing With the Stars,” Harper (left, with Vieira) has had a remarkable turnaround. And she has helped “Dancing” turn around; the premiere on Monday was up 28 percent from last fall’s premiere. Rhoda forever.

Revolution 8 a.m.-midnight, Syfy

The NBC show returns for season 2 next Wednesday. So on Thursday, NBC’s corporate sibling, Syfy, is airing the better part of the first season — 16 episodes out of 20. I’m not a big fan of the sci-fi show, which is yet another ordinary and sometimes tedious apocalyptic network drama. But here’s your chance to find out for yourself . . . and learn once again that I am always, always right no matter what.
