Critic’s corner: What’s on TV Thursday

Sven Frenzel/The CW

Reign 9 p.m., The CW

Spotted: Mary Queen of Scots on the steps of the French court. And wait. Is she locking lips with the studly Prince Francis for all to see? Or was she the pretty lass who was snogging with Francis’s illegitimate step-bro in the garden? And who is that sneaking around the castle? Is it Nostradamus, played by Kiefer sibling Rossif Sutherland? Pray tell! Pictured: Toby Regbo as Prince Francis and Adelaide Kane as Mary.

Hidden City 11 p.m., Travel Channel

In this series, thriller writer Marcus Sakey (above) goes from city to city to, as the Travel Channel puts it, “identify three crimes or criminals that reveal the character of the place.” So who are we? On Thursday night, Sakey visits Boston and reveals that we are a third Whitey Bulger, a third Boston Strangler, and a third the Great Brink’s Robbery. Guess Sakey is saving the Gardner Museum art theft, Sacco and Vanzetti, and the Stuart murder case for his next visit.
