Commonly known as the BAFTAs, this awards show from across the pond will celebrate the year in cinema. Nominees for outstanding British film include “Gravity,” “Philomena,” “Rush,” “Saving Mr. Banks,” “The Selfish Giant,” and “Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom.”

THE TONIGHT SHOW STARRING

The “Saturday Night Live” and “Late Show” alum makes his anticipated debut in the “Tonight” chair. His first guest on the couch will be Will Smith and U2 will provide the soundtrack for the kickoff. Fallon recently told reporters at the Television Critics Association press tour that he reverted to the “Starring” language used by Johnny Carson — Jay Leno used “with” — because it seemed more glamorous and in line with the show’s image. “It’s an homage, a little tip of the cap a little bit to the origins of the show. I thought it would be perfect.”

This doc delves into the tunnels under New York to tell the tale of the famed train station, which was finished in 1910 and began being demolished 53 years later to make way for Madison Square Garden. The original station covered nearly eight acres, extended two city blocks, and housed one of the largest public spaces in the world.

He’s an Englishman in New York, specifically the Public Theater. Sting and his band perform a night of songs and storytelling from his upcoming Broadway musical “The Last Ship,” which will premiere in Chicago in June and is slated to hit the New York stage in the fall.

THE 2014 WINTER OLYMPICS

8 p.m., NBC

Day 17 arrives and the primetime package includes Alpine skiing, the biathlon, bobsled, cross-country skiing, figure skating, and hockey action.
