Critic’s corner: What’s on TV Thursday

Hollywood Game Night 9 p.m., NBC

We recently got to pose a few questions to host Jane Lynch and producer Sean Hayes about this fizzy, fun, celeb-packed game show at the Television Critics Association press tour. Hayes said they’ve reached a happy turning point with booking guests. “Now that it’s on TV and people see that it’s a blast to be on, we are getting asked by celebrities now to come on rather than have to pursue them. So it’s a great thing.” And Lynch told us that former “Saturday Night Live” star Jason Sudeikis, Yvette Nicole Brown of “Community,” and Julie Bowen of “Modern Family” have been among the most competitive stars.

CNN Films: And the Oscar Goes To. . . 9 p.m., CNN

Ever wonder about how they used to present the Academy Awards back in the day? CNN’s got your answers in this film about the history of the show from 1927 to the present. Rare footage from past ceremonies is interspersed with interviews from many who have gotten to take the golden guy home including Steven Spielberg, George Clooney, Helen Mirren, Tom Hanks, and Jennifer Hudson.
