Critic’s corner: What’s on Monday night

Vivian Zink/NBC

Kitchen Casino 9 p.m., Food Network

“Apprentice”/“Giuliana & Bill” star Bill Rancic hosts this new series that combines the concept of high-stakes gambling and culinary competition. Each episode features four chefs tackling three challenges — with the casino themes of slots, roulette, and poker — while a rotating roster of judges critique the results. The show’s potential best twist involves a revolving “roulette” kitchen in which the chefs wind up trying to finish one another’s dishes. In the first episode, meatballs, flank steak, salami, rutabaga, and fruit punch are all on the “Casino” mix as the chefs chase a $30,000 jackpot.
