For old favorite Clarke Peters, a new role

One of my favorites from a number of David Simon shows, including “The Wire,” “Treme,” and “The Corner,” is Clarke Peters.

The actor has just signed onto a new hourlong dramedy called “Love Is ___,” which will appear on OWN. The show was cocreated by Mara Brock Akil, of “The Game” and “Being Mary Jane,” and Salim Akil, who together created “Black Lightning.” The story is modeled on their marriage as it follows the challenges facing a power couple in Hollywood.

Time-shifting, between the years 1997 and 2027, appears to be involved. Peter will be playing husband Yasir in 2027, while Will Catlett will play the same role in 1997. The cast also includes Idara Victor, Tyrone Brown, Kadeem Hardison, Yootha Wong-Loi-Sing, and Lana Young.
