Double Edge’s Klein wins Doris Duke grant

Stacy Klein, the founder and artistic director of Ashfield’s Double Edge Theatre, is a recipient of the 2013 Performing Artist Award from the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation.

The $225,000 grant is intended as an investment in artists whose work affects both audiences and the performing arts field. Klein is the only Massachusetts artist chosen by the foundation to receive the award this year. She says she’ll use the money to fund the next phase of Double Edge’s ongoing Chagall Cycle of works inspired by the artist’s life and vision, as well as to further develop the group’s Ashfield complex, the Farm, as a performance and teaching venue.

The award also offers professional development activities, financial and legal counseling, and meetings with the other recipients.
