Indexes cling to gains for the week

Poor earnings pounded the market Friday in a sour end to an otherwise strong week. The drops left the Dow and S&P clinging to gains for the week. It was a tough one for tech companies: IBM pointed to Europe’s troubles and slowing business spending for disappointing results; Intel blamed the global economy and sliding computer sales.
