Akamai to acquire Verivue

Akamai Technologies Inc. this week agreed to acquire Verivue — a deal expected to complement Akamai’s Aura Network Solutions and accelerate Akamai’s time to market in providing content delivery network solutions, a press release said. Akamai said network operators are seeking ways to improve the performance of digital cable and other offerings. ‘‘Verivue has done an impressive job of building a licensed content delivery infrastructure,’’ said Mick Scully, an Akamai executive. Verivue, of Westford, has 60 employees.
