Homebuilder D.R. Horton said its second-quarter net income more than doubled, citing an increase in demand in the housing market. It reported net income of $111 million, or 32 cents per share, compared with $40.6 million, or 13 cents per share, a year earlier. Those results beat analysts’ forecasts. Net sales orders for the quarter increased to 7,879 homes from 5,899 homes a year earlier, the company said. The Fort Worth-based company operates in 26 states.
