Brazil deal lifts iRobot’s global business

Bedford’s iRobot Corp. continued its rise after it was awarded contracts of $7.2 million from Brazil for robots to help provide security as the country gears up for a World Cup soccer tournament, a scheduled papal visit this summer, and the 2016 Olympics. After big cuts in Pentagon spending, iRobot has generally been putting more emphasis on its nonmilitary robots. Senior vice president Frank Wilson said as iRobot continues its global expansion, “Brazil represents an important market for the company’s unmanned ground vehicles.”
