iRobot gets preliminary injunctions in Roomba patent case

Bedford’s iRobot Corp. said Friday that it has obtained preliminary injunctions from a German court over allegations that two related Chinese companies have infringed on four German patents that cover technology iRobot developed for its Roomba vacuum robots.

The Chinese companies are Shenzhen Silver Star Intelligent Technology Co. and Shenzhen Silver Star Intelligent Electronic Ltd. Shenzhen Silver Star can appeal. An attempt to reach Shenzhen Silver Star was not successful.

The preliminary injunctions were served on Shenzhen Silver Star and infringing goods were seized from the company Friday at IFA, a trade show for consumer electronics and home appliances in Berlin, iRobot said in a press release.

Shenzhen Silver Star manufactures vacuum-cleaning robots in China that are sold under various brand names in Europe.
